I have been busy

The last 2 weeks have been busy, a good friend and my mom were visiting me and I didn't find much time to go online. But I managed to do a few layouts:

Here you can see my mom and her twin sister Heidi at their first communion. Even my mom can't exactly tell who is who on the photo, but she believes she is on the right side.

Then we have mommys little helper, Philipp always wants to vacuum when I try to clean the living room... I hope he still does when he is older...

And last but not least, my sweet son eating a single chocolate cookie and getting messy as if he had bathed in chocolate...

That should be enough for today, I have some more but I will upload them tomorrow

February Roundup

I have found those questions at another blog yesterday and I really like the idea, so here comes my monthly roundup for the first time...

What books and/or magazines did I read this month?
As for books I read Eragon book 1 and 2 and I cant wait for the third one to be published in Germany. I love fantasy books and read a lot of them, but I really can't believe that Christopher Paolini wrote this when he was just 15 years old...
Other then that, I just read the last issue of "Creating Keepsakes", it's always a great source of inspiration even if it is focused on paper scrapping.

What movies and/or tv shows did I watch this month?
Nothing special, Dr. House and NavyCIS as always, I can't wait for the new season of NavyCIS to start this sunday. The only movie I have seen for the first time was "Departed", but I'm not sure if I really liked it... it seems to be one of those movies you have to see several times to understand everything

What special days did I celebrate and how?
No birthdays this month, but we had "Karneval" here, it's a bit similar to Halloween but not really the same. Everybody is wearing costumes and there are parades and costume parties from Thursday until the next Tuesday. Unfortunately it is not celebrated as much here in Dortmund as I am used to from Saarland where I have been born. So I decided to be next year back in Saarland with my parents for "Karneval". Philipp has been a Clown this year and I a witch for one day and a medieval woman the other day

What gifts did I give and/or receive?
When my mom was visiting me, she bought me a potted plant with red flowers, really beautiful. I just love when someone shows his affection with a small spontaneous gift. Besides, my partner brought me some hand warmers, they are small pockets filled with a liquid that heats up when you bend a small piece of metal in it. I believe he thinks I'm freezing when my hands are cold, but it's pretty normal for me to have cold hand and feet...
The only gifts I made were to my son this month, I bought him a few new toys, nothing fancy just a puzzle and a small car.

What illnesses or health concerns did I have?
I had a really bad cold with headaches, fever, shivering and a bad cough but everything is fine now. And of course I have not been the only one, Philipp is now a bit sick but just a bit of sneezing and coughing, nothing serious.

What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family?
We had one single day of snow and I have been playing in the snow with Philipp and building a snowman even if it was still snowing. And I have been glad we did so because it started to rain the same evening and all the snow has been gone again...
Other then that we did nothing special this month

What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try this month?
When I was sick, my partner made Polenta which I never tried before. But to be honest, I can't tell you if I like it because it tasted to me like nothing because of the cold.
I tried a new recipe for a spinach lasagne and it tasted pretty good but I will have to improve the recipe a bit, especially because Philipp didn't like the spinach leaves...

What special or unusual purchases did I make?
Nothing for this month...

What were this month's disappointments?
As always I'm disappointed that my dad didn't call me a single time this month even if I miss my weekly call. And when I have him on the phone, he doesn't seem to be very interested in what I have to say about me or his grandson.
But besides that there was nothing I remember

What were my accomplishments this month?
Let me think a bit about this...
I really improved in my designing skills because I found some really good tutorials that did not only teach me how to make a certain item but that helped me to understand Photoshop better.
Oh, not to forget I got Philipp to sleep without his pacifier at first try and with just a little bit of crying.

Anything else noteworthy to record?
I'm so happy with my love that I have for 4 months now, he is so sweet with Philipp and he really seems to love me. He can not say the famous 3 words, but he shows it to me with lots of small gestures. Now I just need to find a job and everything will be fine in my life.
